Black women of colorWhat’s one of the Black businesswoman’s biggest assets? Cash? Prestige? Ingenuity? Well, possibly, but think about the people around you in your community, and it could very well be that they, your social network, your mothers, sisters, aunts, cousins and friends, could be your biggest asset in building up a viable multi level marketing organization. That’s right, you need to start thinking of all the people you know as assets, just the same as technology, money, and good ideas. They are essential to achieving your success and then maintaining it. Use your support network to create riches. Whatever it is that you’re trying to sell, promote, or get people to invest in depends upon your ability to reach out and appeal to that person’s needs. If you can convince them that they need what you’re promoting as a black businesswoman, whether it’s products that are offered through a multi level marketing structure, or new types of investments, or even some kind of franchise, then you can succeed in your own business.

I may be off the mark here, but I think even these days, the black business woman can take advantage of business opportunities for women by appealing to the closeness of black women. Black business woman, if you try marketing to other black women first, you have a natural base upon which to build your multi level marketing. From there you can expand your efforts to other women, then men and finally, you should regard almost everyone as a potential client. Don’t be afraid to talk to anyone at all about whatever business you’re promoting. The black business woman needs to push extra hard and always be willing to put in that extra time, the extra effort to put her business over the top. It’s not enough for the black business woman to be good, she’s got to be extraordinarily good in order to have the substance behind her image of success, but also to be conscious that she is a role model for other women of color whether she knows them or not. Every black business woman who succeeds, who tells the world, ‘Yes I can!’ gives hope not only to another black business woman who is just starting out, but also to every black woman and girl out there that the black business woman is a person of worth, and substance and character. Our success in the world sends the right kind of message to our sisters, and I hope will inspire them to follow their dreams and achieve their utmost potential.
