Grem'lin n. 1. Your inner critic that tells you, in one way or another, that you're not good enough

The first time I heard the word Gremlin was in 1984. I was with a few friends from school and we waited in line for what seemed like forever. We wanted to get movie tickets to what turned out be one of the pop cultural hit movies of the 80's. The movie was a pretty bad comedy and the stars in the film were these ugly, pesky, nasty little creatures that multipled like crazy and showed up everywhere, ruining everyone's day...GREMLINS, yuck!

What do YOUR inner gremlins look like? Do they seem to come from nowhere and zap you of your positive attitude and belief in yourself? Do they show up right before you are about to call a prospect or do a presentation? How about right after you get off the phone with the good friend who you just knew would join your business and she said absolutely..NOT! Does a Gremlin make a grand entrance and plant her butt on your couch, telling you over and over, "Girl, give it up...you will never build this business!!" How about when your kids don't clean their rooms, does the QUEEN GREMLIN stand tall?

Unfortunately, all black women in network marketing and direct sales must deal with a Gremlin or two from time to time. The good news is you CAN get rid of your Gremlins and move forward without limitations. The most important part is to recognize your inner critic, your Gremlin, and take the power away. You do this by first becoming aware of it, then bringing it out into visibility.

I am in the process of becoming a Certified Life Empowerment Coach, specifically targeting women of color in network marketing. The processes and concepts that I will be sharing with you during my certification and after, will be invaluable and life changing. You just need to apply them! Try the process of naming your worst Gremlin, this will actually lessen its power. In doing this, you will discover that the "Gremlin" is only a part of who you are for now, not your entire identity forever. You can control it and actually get rid of it!!

For example, have you ever said or heard someone else say, " I keep trying and trying to build my business, but it never works...I don't know...I guess I am not really good at this recruiting stuff". OR, "I can't get my friends to buy any of my products, I knew I was bad at sales".

This is a Gremlin called "I'm just not good enough". This is a part of you that believes you are less then who you REALLY are. If this is a Gremlin you can identify with, I want you to write down what my coach certification training program, IPEC COACHING, calls a Foundation Principle:

Each moment describes who you are, and gives you the opportunity to decide who you want to be

Next, write down the following mantra and recite it at least three times a day:

I AM always, and in all ways, greater than I think...I AM

By identifying your gremlin, naming it and reciting positive, empowering mantras like the one above...you can begin to finally tame and destroy that nasty gremlin that could be holding you back from success!!

See you at the TOP!!
