Make sure you can give honest, personal testimonies on your company's products or services. Of course, you will not LOVE and USE every single product personally everyday, but it is a good idea to at least "try it all out".
This may happen over time and that is fine, no need to put every cream on your face or put every vitamin down your throat in your first month in the business. However, you should absolutely be your own best customer and experience your products firsthand. It is a good idea to find at least a few items you LOVE and use those daily or monthly depending on the type of products. For example my company, Seriesse International offers LOTS of skin care, cosmetics and wellness products. I use the Glyco Essentials Deep Pore Cleanser and Super Creamerum Face Essentials every evening, so I buy those products often. These are two of my favorites and they are very effective on a black women's skin. Because I use these products everyday I am able to give sincere and personal testimonies on them. Find company favorites, use them often and you will find that you will sell more of those then anything else!
Why does finding personal favorites and using them increase sales? Because now you are able to "share stories" on products instead of just giving facts! Have you ever heard the saying, "Facts tell and stories sell?" This is such a true statement because when you have never used a product or service, all you tend to do is give the facts. If your company offers a skin care line that you have never tried, you may say something like this, "The product has natural oils and vitamins that add moisture, your skin will look great".
Now, what if you use the skin care line regularly, you would probably say something like this, "Girl, this moisture cream is awesome!! I've used it for the last 6 months and my skin has never felt better!! I KNOW it will make a difference and you will love how young and soft your skin will look, you must give it a try!!
Naturally, the prospective customer will get more excited about buying the skin care because you just told her your personal "story" and you sold it without actually trying to! You didn't ever state facts about it, you just shared your story with personal emotion. In fact, you learned all about the skin care emotionally instead of factually. Learning about your products or services EMOTIONALLY is the best and most effective way to do it.
How to become your own best customer and not go broke!
More and More network marketing companies are offering hundreds of products. Black women in direct sales companies will often ask the question, "Should I be buying everything my company offers?" The corporate answer is, "YES, YES, YES!" However, the real world answer is, " You should completely replace those products or services that you are buying some place else with the products or services your company distributes".
This means, stop buying the cosmetics, skin care, toothpaste, travel services, cooking items, vitamins, etc. from the local drug store, grocery store, travel agent or health food store...and buy only from YOUR STORE! This is how we become "Our Own Best Customer". For a black woman, or any woman in network marketing this is just plain good business. If you are new to your company, ask your upline or sponsor what products you should be purchasing: get them, use them, study them and start "sharing the stories". Your direct sales business will thank you!!
