One of the best things about being a black woman in network marketing is it encourages us to DREAM! There aren't many jobs or even professional careers that can compete with the uplifting and positive messages most direct sales or network marketing companies infuse in their consultants. I'm not talking about companies that just hand out "hype", I'm talking about reputable direct sales companies that understand the power of an inspired sales force. As African American women, many of us know the day in and day out grind of a thankless job. We know too well what it feels like to work at a company for years and never get a simple "thank you for your hard work". Prior to my network marketing career, I can't remember ever working for a company in corporate American that encouraged me to "Dream and reach for the stars". The mantras and daily encouragement were more like, "You sales quota IS..." and "Your required duty IS...". I think most would agree, these so called words of encouragement are more like words of YOU BETTA DO IT OR ELSE!!
Let's remind ourselves daily how fortunate we are to be in an industry that actually encourages you to reach for the stars...everyday! Black women building a direct sales business have an amazing opportunity to SHINE! That doesn't mean it will be easy, you will be challenged and pushed out of your comfort zone..often. Most likely,your close friends and family will not join you in your business right away,this is a fact, expect it. Go out and make new contacts, join networking groups, talk to new people every chance you can get. Don't bombard them with your opportunity, try to build a rapport with them first. Women join women they know, like and trust...so build a rapport first. Work your business into the "nooks and crannies" of your life. In other words, make your business part of your everyday existance. If you spend time on the soccer field with your kids, do that and make a new friend while you are there. If you just joined a new gym in your area, go exercise and strike up a conversation with the woman on the treadmill next to you. If you work you business into your everyday life, it will not feel so "unnatural", it will become part of who you are. That is the best way to build your direct sales business, it will feel natural and right.
Most of all, as you work hard toward your goal of a successful home based network marketing business, don't forget to DREAM!! This is a business for people with dreams, don't try to recruit anyone that does not have a dream for a better life...they will not join you, or they will not work. After reading this article, take a moment and write down your top 5 reasons for joining your company. Make sure they are big enough dreams to make you stick around when the going gets tough...and it will. Dream BIG, this is your life...make it good!!
