When first asked to join the MLMBlackWoman.ning.com social network, I had to first look up what M.L.M stood for.  Although I was familiar with companies like, Avon, Mary-Kay and Warm Spirits, the term MLM (Multi-level Marketing ) was totally new to me.  During my research, I was completely taken by surprise by how many black women are successful in various MLM companies.

Nearing my forties, I am a little late to just be searching for financial freedom and realizing my worth as a woman.  Earlier this year, my dream of becoming a best-selling author came true.  The day I signed my book contract, I thought back to my childhood and wondered why no one ever told me I could become a published author when I grew up.

As wise as my grandfather was, he also never told me that being the CEO of my own company was possible, even for me; a child born into poverty, welfare and struggle.“Tyshelle (one of my nicknames), you should be a nurse or something in the medical field.  Maybe a teacher or accountant?  Going to college will help you find your path in life but I want you to be happy or at least content,” my Grandfather would say to me.

We survived by living pay check to pay check so the answer is simple; my elders could not teach me what they did not know themselves.

After six years of searching for a reputable home based business, I happened upon a newly formed African-American company that will surely take the MLM community and country by storm.  Discovering what is inside The Chocolate Box, LLC., was like looking into my very own soul.  All of the products reflect who I am as a woman and offer a celebration of our heritage in such an innovative way that the world will be forced to take notice.

MLMBlackWomen.ning.com is a social network full of fresh, detailed and innovative information meant for both the young women coming into themselves and the million dollar CEO of her own company looking to give back to her community.  This social network has empowered me to tell my daughter and nieces that one day; she too, can become a successful Independent Chocolate Box Consultant with financial freedom.  I am proud to be a part of African-American history.
